Fong & Chuang 375

I first had to deal with the experience of understanding my classmates. After the frustrating ordeal of learning German I came to realize that the kids still did not like me. I assumed that if I learned the language, my peers would play with me. But I was mistaken. My classmates were all Caucasian and would not play with me because of my skin complexion. I soon learned about the "nigger" word as even Germans used it. I walked over to ask a group of male classmates who were playing on the jungle gym and asked if i could play...
"Can I play with you?"
"No you can't play with us"
"Please, I'm good at tag?
"No, because we're White and you're a nigger."
I did not know what the word nigger meant, but seeing all the boys laugh at me told me it was an insult...Its funny that I did not realize what my classmates were calling me until I later moved to the United States.

I hate when people discriminate against others. Its one of the most immature things that the human being can do. No one should feel bad for being themselves. No one can help who they are and no matter who they are we are not ones to judge. I don't care if you're African American, White, Asian, Hispanic, Gay, Straight or Bisexual you should be able to live your life they way you want to. I felt so bad when I read this story about the boy at school. He tried so hard to make friends and he even learned German to try and socialize with them and he still wasn't accepted into the other boys' social circle. I understand that sometimes you just don't "click" with certain people, but if you choose not to be friends with someone just because of the way they look or act than that's not right.
